Seneca Lake
Seneca Lake is the largest and deepest of the Finger Lakes, stretching more than 38 miles from Geneva to Watkins Glen.
It's depth, over 600 feet in places, creates a moderating effect on temperatures, helping protect vines from harsh winters and extending the growing season. Steep hillsides and shale-rich soils provide excellent drainage, ideal for high-quality wine grapes.
This unique environment has made Seneca Lae the heart of the Finger Lakes wine region, known for world-class Riesling, vibrant Chardonnay and impressive Cabernet Franc. With dozens of wineries lining both the east and west shores, the lake offers one of the most diverse and concentrated wine trails in the region.
